BUENA BUENAS ESTADOS UNIDOS!!!!!!!!!

Here we are at the conclusion of another thrilling week of the Chile Santiago Best mission. With highs and lows, and leaps and falls, and balling up the whole zone of Olimpo. Yeah, it’s pretty great here. ;)

I can basically speak Portuguese now! Its really funny cause sometimes I’m talking with Elder Ferreira and when I go to speak to someone else I forget to speak Spanish. I don’t happen often, but it’s really funny when it does. We always heckle each other when one of us unconsciously begins to "Portuñol"

This week has been a week of a lot of growth opportunities. I’m learning a lot more how to love and take care of the missionaries under my charge. We’ve had various challenges we´ve had to fix with health, but our spirit is still unbreakable. I really admire the faith of the missionaries I serve.

Here are a few miracles:

The other day I was taking money out of the atm with the mission prepaid card, and I made a rookie mistake. But not just any rookie mistake, THE rookie mistake. I took my money and left the card placed in the machine. I got back home, and realized it. I started freaking out, when the secretaries called me: " Elder Pomar, you must be really blessed, because we just saw something that never happens. A lady came to the office and told us 'one of your mormons forgot their card in the atm.' and gave us your card. Come pick it up at the office next preparation day"

That was a straight up miracle. We had been working hard that week, but we hadn’t seen the results we wanted. Blessings for obedience are much more diverse than new investigators and baptisms

Last Monday, President challenged us to find one new investigator before lunch. We talked with everyone, but no one let us in. When the hour came, we went to look for our lunch and the house of a Sister to eat lunch back at our house. Then I got a crazy Idea: were not gonna eat lunch until we enter a house. So we started tracting with lunch in hand. We knocked a door that we had knocked 10 times before, and out came a young man. He saw me and said "hey! you remember me?" Turns out that it was a guy that I had contacted over A YEAR AGO in Los Libertadores. He moved here a few months ago. He let us in and we taught him and his mom. God gave us a miracle! It all begins with the exercise of faith.

Love you all! Keep going! Keep the commandments, have charity, and read the book of mormon

Hey My Friends!!

AGH!!!! None of these computers read my camera!!!! I’m gonna try something different. I’m gonna buy a SD card reader and try and bypass the lack of software. Hopefully that will work. Sorry for the lack of pictures :(

Anyways, todays been a good day! I had laid off the sports for a while to try and let my knee get a little better. 3 months straight with no soccer. I was so sad, but now I’m back in action! We also played basketball. That was the first time in a year that I’ve played basketball with missionaries, but I was still getting buckets!!

Now the most important thing, I love the mission!  You honestly make such great friends here! I love my ward. My ward mission leader, my bishop, and Danny are some of my best friends here in Chile. I love these guys! It’s been such a pleasure working in Nueva San Martin. It’s a great place to be. I feel like Alma sometimes. In Ammonihah there were times when no one accepted him, but in spite of everything he found 1 soul (Amulek) that converted in one of his best friends and loyalist mission companions. Everything is worth it.

I love feeling the spirit. You feel it so much in the mission if you let it into your life. I love the feeling of teaching a lesson and just feeling a wave of calm come over me. It’s incredible. I’ve learned really well that you just gotta get out of the way!

They had the groundbreaking ceremony for the Concepcion Chile temple the other day! We got to watch it and it was really neat! Were so happy for the members in the south that they will finally have a temple. It’s a miracle!

I want to give my solemn witness that this is the work of the Lord. God is hastening his work. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the Holy Messiah, our Savior, Lord and King. It is only through him that we can experience the peace, happiness, purpose and understanding that we need in this life. The only way we can let him into our lives is by making sacred covenants with him by his holy priesthood, the first of which is baptism. Draw near unto him, and he will draw near unto you.

Love you!

HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How you all doing? I’ve been super!
These last few days I’ve been sick, and halfway through the day yesterday my voice just got tired out. I had to whisper. It was like I was Batman, or Smeagol, or the Spirit, or a mix of the three :) Nevertheless we are doing good!

The missionaries in my district are machines. I’ve never seen such hardworking missionaries. They inspire me every day to do better. They are having a lot of success. So many prepared people are being baptized in their ward. Now it’s our turn!

In my ward, there is one family of investigators that have my heart. I just love them sooooo much! It’s the Navarro Mellado family. The wife is a less active who was baptized some 4 years ago and the dad has a lot of desires to join the church. We had to stop teaching them 3 months ago because they weren’t progressing, but now we are going all out with them!!!

I wish I could type faster ha-ha!
Love you all!!

SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got pounded by a long survey that ate up my cyber time. I have 3 minutes. I played soccer for the first time in a long time, which was great!! I love to play. Elder Ferreira really helps and supports me even in the bad times. I have a lot of responsibility, but I cannot complain. I just have to trust in the Lord. The good news is that we´ll be going to the temple to do baptisms on Saturday! We´ll be going with 4 of the new converts. THE MISSION IS AWESOME!! Love you!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANGEL AND BLANCA WERE BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The service was on Saturday, and it was sooo special. I got to baptize Blanca, and I had to do it 4 times because either I messed up the words or not all her body was submerged. The water was freezing. I felt like such a rookie haha! But she got baptized so that’s what matters. We have a teen that always accompanies us to our appointments named Juan Valdes, who is preparing to serve a mission. He baptized Angel, and it was the first time he was able to get in the font. We were so happy for him! They were really miracles of the Lord. There was a lot of resistance, from the water heater busting on us, to a mishap with the fire hose (everything is alright! don’t you worry!) and God gave us a miracle. They along with Magali were confirmed on Sunday and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. They are all so happy. They’re just beaming. Magali has a lot of health issues, but now she feels like she has more energy. She can walk without shaking! Angel had an incredible experience with prayer on Sunday and wants to serve a mission. Blanca is always so cheerful. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

This Ward has been a land of miracles for me. Ill be here for minimum 6 months, and I’m happy to do it. Sometimes I realize that I don’t have time for anything else. There isn’t time to think between studies, tracting, talking with everyone on the street, planning, and sleeping. That’s alright. I have all my life to relax, but only 2 years to be an authorized full time servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Oh no. I just realized that I have less than a year left. Gotta get back out to the field!

Training Elder Ferreira has been a great experience for me. I just hope that when I’m a real dad that ill have a kid like him. So teachable. so humble. So many lessons to learn!

Sorry for the lack of Pictures. In the missionary handbook it says that we cant take pictures during proselyting time, and that we´re never to look like a tourist. I’m still trying to figure out how to not look like a tourist haha! Love you all!

I know that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the Living God. He paid for my sins, standing between Justice and I. the Only thing he wants is for us to follow him. Let us all be better servants of our loving master

Love,

Elder Pomar
